While the Received By field on repair orders lists technicians in its dropdown list, a new repair order automatically defaults this field to the login name of the current user. The Estimated By and Repaired By fields are never defaulted, but must be entered or selected manually.
If users have entered various technicians inconsistently, they can be standardized through a few simple steps. When opening the technicians setup area, answer Yes to extract newly entered technicians if this option has been enabled (see module option “Prompt to extract newly entered Technicians” under Setup Module Options). Then browse through the list and correct any variances by editing each incorrect record and typing in what the technician should have been, even if it is already in the list. Make sure that the Update existing Repair Order records box is checked before saving. All repair order records will automatically be updated with the correct technician so that your data is consistent.
