Technicians Overview
In this setup area you may create a list of the various technicians who do estimating or repairs and servicing. The technicians entered here will be available in dropdown lists for the Received By, Estimated By and Repaired By entry field on repair orders. Revenue associated with the estimates and repairs performed by the technicians can later be determined for compensation and commission calculations.
For the purposes of revenue, compensation, and commission calculations, the technician does not have to refer to a person, but could also refer to an organization (e.g. the warranty replacement department of a manufacturer). Also, multiple technician codes may be set up for each technician to represent various aspects of their work (e.g. warranty versus non-warranty repairs).
Select Setup 
Lists Technicians from the main menu to open
the technicians setup area.
If the option has been enabled, you will first be prompted with the question: Do you want to extract newly entered technicians from repair orders? (See module option “Prompt to extract newly entered Technicians” under Setup Module Options.) Click the Yes button to automatically create new records for technicians that were manually entered in the Estimated By and Repaired By fields on repair orders, and that do not already exist in the technicians table. Click the No button or press the Esc key to ignore the request.
The technicians setup module may be renamed with a custom caption (see Custom Captions), and is not available in the Retail SQL and Retail editions.
