Section 12: Internet Utility > Mobile Synchronization

Mobile Synchronization Overview

Users may connect remotely to a master At Your Service database across a wide area network by using standard commercial remote access software (see Installing on a Wide Area Network). For mobile users, this may also include a connection over a wireless cellular network. However, if users need to work in a remote environment where there is no possibility of a direct connection to the master database (either via a physical or wireless connection) then the Repair Mobile edition of At Your Service - Repair Centre may be used.

The Repair Mobile edition allows users to work on a mobile notebook computer using a local copy of the database. They can then later synchronize their data to the master At Your Service database either by returning to your business location and synchronizing across your local network, or by connecting across the Internet and synchronizing via a secure VPN (virtual private network) connection. The synchronization process is started from the mobile workstation (Synchronizing a Mobile Edition Database), and is managed by the Internet Utility.

NOTE   While At Your Service Software, Inc. is providing a limited amount of technical information here to assist you in setting up your network and communications systems (including a VPN), it is ultimately the responsibility of you and your company to work along with your network technicians and consultants to evaluate, select, install, test, and maintain these systems.

NOTE   Mobile synchronization is in beta testing and has not yet been officially released.
